Chinglish.com was founded in 2004 as a venture that aimed to bridge the linguistic and cultural divide between Chinese and English speaking professionals. As a first step towards developing a full-fledged bilingual internet portal, the Chinglish team built a webmail system equipped with translation and proofreading tools. This was followed by resources such as forums and bilingual profiles to facilitate networking and the exchange of trade leads.
The Chinglish Chamber of Commerce (CCoC) was founded in the beginning of 2009 to leverage on business opportunities stemming from the rise of China as a global power and to further the idea of bringing Chinese and English speaking business communities closer together. The people behind the CCoC are Western professionals working in the greater China region and Chinese professionals working outside of China. The Chinglish team is passionate about China and doing business.
Currently, the Chinglish Chamber of Commerce has well over 22,000 members.
