How to use chinglish & 帮助 > No more translations ?

Dear Sciolto,

By buying a Jade Account you buy credits (which we call "chinglings").
The amount of credits a user has is recorded under “My Profile.”

150 RMB does not buy you as many credits as 100 EUR (there is also a 20
USD option if you use Paypal)

With a Jade Account you can get longer machine translations. No credits
are deducted from your account for longer machine translations. Credits
are only deducted for human translation and proofreading requests.

Your Jade Account remains active as long as you have credits in your
account. The Terms of Service state that it’s an annual fee. We have
never applied this time limitation to date because we value our users.
Still, we are telling you so that you can make an informed decision.
That there are no guarantees you also noticed during the summer, when we
had technical problems to solve. The one guarantee we give is that we do
our best.

Hope this helps,

Chinglish Support

I see two paying options: 150 RMB or 100 euro. That is a big difference
I don't understand that. Why the two subscription fees ? For what period
can the longer machine translations be used ? Is it an annual fee ?

Hi Sciolto,

1. As you might imagine, Google has more resources than Chinglish

2. With a Jade account you can get longer machine translations with NO
EXTRA cost. Once you have a Jade account, you only pay for human
translations and proofreading.

3. Nobody is stopping you from using Google :-)

Thanks,

Automated translation up to 75 words used to be free. Why is it 25 now ?

I noticed that the translation via Google has gained quality
considerably. It may even be better than Chinglish now, and it is 100%
FREE, and not to mention a lot faster and more reliable than Chinglish.
I have seen the costs of a Jade account. Prices are ridiculous.

你好!

We're making 进步 and we are getting closer to the solution. Hard to say
but we expect within a 月. Could be next 星期 but we don't want to get any
hopes up. We'll send a 电子邮件 to all Chinglish users as soon as the
translation tool is back online.

We 再一次 apologize for the missing 快速翻译。We have taken the Quick
Translation from the 首页。Logged-in users without IME can still use the
online 中文输入法。 The 翻译功能 will be put back online once we solve the related
技术问题。

We see your point. However, forum posts are also on the homepage for
those who look. And we still offer human translations for people who
need it. Admitted, they are not free, but it's the best we can do right
now.

Shouldn't this be posted on the homepage and not just in the forum,
together with an indication when the technical problems are expected to
be fixed ?

Because of a technical failure 我们暂时只能 offer high quality human
translations.

The 机器翻译 will be put back online 尽快。

Hello Sciolto,

We are not denying the hiccups or hiding behind technical complexities.
The structural improvement is needed and we are doing what we can under
the circumstances.

These hiccups happen from time to time with Chinglish and are not just
related to the Olympics. At least that is my experience in the last 1,5
year. I think a structural improvement is needed before making the site
commercial, which to my surprise became a fact some time ago.

The奧運會and技術hiccups are keeping the translations from working for the
moment.

We抱歉once again.

Apologies to all. We are doing our utmost to fix this technical glitch
ASAP.

As to your Jade account, we'll make it up to you by adding some free
chinglings.

We're working on it. Thanks for your patience.

I haven't been able to make a single translation in the last few days,
yet there is no mention of server problems or connectivity problems.
Also there is no mention about the site being very very slow lately,
sometimes even unresponsive.
Are there more people experiencing this ? Any info maybe ?
